BARBAGIORGOS carries with him the mountain, the earth, and the oral tradition of the people. He is not simply a character from shadow theatre, but a folk spirit, filled with kindness, wit,
and disarming authenticity. In the work, his body appears formed from repeating patterns, as if made of stories passed from mouth to mouth and from generation to generation.
He holds Karagiozis’ face as a symbol of companionship, but also as a mirror of human multiplicity.
We are all many faces in one. In BARBAGIORGOS, movement becomes narration and humor coexists with memory.
It serves as a reminder that tradition is not something we observe from a distance, but something that continues to walk beside us, alive and genuine.
